Troubadours royalty have a good time Scottish type |

For the Krewe of Troubadours it’s off to the Scottish Highlands. The Balmoral Highlands, to be precise.

That is the theme for this year’s ball and pageant. King Richard Coeur de Lion, Michael Topham, and his wife Dana spared nothing for the guests of this year’s Krewe party. HRH Topham even built part of the set themselves to turn the River Oaks Event Center into a royal palace suitable for, well, fit for. Decorations included a life-size Scottish stag and an ornate royal throne. That party would have happened last year but the nasty COVID brought everything to a standstill (even Ol ‘Nessie wasn’t that devilish).

As a result, Topham, along with two queens – this year’s Queen Berengaria and last year’s monarch – will rule over these Carnival celebrations. You might need a little scotch to figure it all out, but as they say in Scotland, Slàinte mhath! Which, appropriately, means good health.
