Delta Airlines sent a cease and desist letter to the country’s largest cabin crew union after its president criticized the company’s reduced sick leave policy for employees with Covid-19.

Last Thursday, Association of Flight Attendants President Sara Nelson tweeted that the union had received “multiple reports” that Delta was “notifying workers in all work groups that they should come to work with symptoms, even if someone in the household tests positive.” She also said positive workers were told “to come to work after 5 days if the fever is below 100.9, even if they still test positive.”

A day later, Peter Carter, Delta’s Chief Legal Officer, mailed the letter to AFA.

“This information is not only false, it is criminal offense because it casts Delta in a highly negative light by suggesting that Delta asked employees to work while they were ill,” Carter’s letter said. “Such irresponsible behavior is inappropriate, defamatory and must be stopped immediately.”

Nelson, whose union does not represent Delta flight attendants but started one organize drive there in November 2019, defending her comments and saying Delta’s policies confused flight crews.

“Delta’s policy now addresses being asymptomatic before returning to work, which was a serious concern since those CDC policies were originally omitted from Delta’s policy announcement,” she wrote to Delta CEO Tuesday Ed Bastian. “But we still get questions from Delta flight attendants about returning to work with a low-grade fever and the fact that Delta’s current policy only recommends testing before returning to work and doesn’t require testing.”

Delta updated its Covid sick leave policy on Dec. 28 to five days off with wage protection — reduced from 10 days — that doesn’t require employees to spend days in their medical banks. Employees can get two extra days if they test positive again on the fifth day.

“Delta has always looked to science to formulate our policies regarding COVID-19,” a Delta spokesman said Tuesday. “We have sent a cease and desist letter because we believe institutions and leaders must speak carefully, truthfully and factually.”

The airline had asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to halve the recommended isolation time for breakout Covid infections to five days, warning of staff shortages and flight cancellations coming later. JetBlue Airways and other airlines asked for the same change. CDC updated its guidance Dec. 27 after relaxing recommendations for healthcare workers.

Cancellations from staff ill with Covid and a series of winter storms topped 20,000 between Christmas and the first week of the year. United Airlines, which has 10 days of wage protection left for crews with Covid, said Tuesday it would further cut its schedule, with 3,000 workers, about 4% of its US employees, testing positive for the coronavirus.

At Landmark Credit Union in Brookfield, Wisconsin, waiting for a cashier feels like waiting for a table in a restaurant.

CCSD: Lecturers union ‘didn’t adequately clarify’ cash shortfall in academics medical insurance belief

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The Clark County School District issued a statement early Friday following a nightly school committee meeting in which numerous teachers raised concerns about their health insurance and unpaid medical bills.

“Despite the presentation to the Board of Directors, the CCEA was unable to adequately explain the THT deficit of 42 million US dollars or answer questions about the solvency of the THT satisfactorily and precisely,” said the statement, which was published shortly after midnight.

The Clark County School District can’t watch while the Teachers Health Trust is burdening teachers with higher expenses for less coverage.

At USAlliance Financial, the lowest payment on a home loan can be around $ 42 per month, compared to the minimum upfront cost of $ 250 for a secured credit card. The bonus is 4 percent of each employee’s salaries in 2020. The contract is similar to the contracts signed by police and fire service unions earlier this year. Mayor Anthony DiCicco said the bonus money will be paid thanks to city workers who continued to work during the pandemic. The ARP money can be used to pay for the bonuses that DiCicco said will total around $ 350,000. The bonuses, he said, are only paid once.

Instead of spending the money on bonuses, Teresi would like to see the money spent to help the residents.

“There are many elderly (residents) with permanent home incomes who cannot fix the driveway if they are cited by the building authorities,” she said. “You can’t put a new roof on. You’re from Social Security. They just don’t have the money so why don’t we help them? Let’s just do something for the residents and give our employees 2.5 percent for three years. “

Some of them, their insurance company, are no longer taking damage because they have had so many claims. ”Teresi said there are other homes in the area that have also been hit by floods, including those on Ascot and Bellingham streets.

Regarding spending the ARP money, DiCicco said, “We’re still talking about what we’re going to do with it. The sewers, we’ve got to find out what’s going on with the sewers over there. Dan Gerson, our city engineer, found some leaks between the rainwater and the sewer system during the main paint tests. So something needs to be fixed.

“I think it was about $ 300,000 worth of repairs. It’s good. We’ll go ahead and do this, but testing still needs to be done to find out exactly what needs to be done before we invest any money. We intend to fix whatever we find there. This (ARP) money can be used for this. “

DiCicco went on to say that the cash for the employee bonuses can come from the ARP fund or from the city’s general fund.

“We also have money to fix the sewer problems. It’s just a matter of figuring out what needs to be done. It’s not like you can’t do one thing and can’t do the other. We are in a sufficiently good position to carry out the (sewer) repairs and still take care of our employees. “
