This Toyota Tacozilla Camper Has Outdated-Faculty Model, 3D-Printed Eating Desk and a Full Kitchen

The Concept Camper based on Toyota Tacoma is a retro bike with cool modern upgrades.

Retro colors of the 1970s and modern overland capabilities come together in Toyota’s wild new “Tacozilla” Camper Concept.

Those of a certain age can recognize the inspiration of the SEMA build as the Hilux-based Toyota x Chinook Camper collaborations of the 1970s / 80s, since Engine 1 Remarks. The accented vintage yellow, orange and bronze bodywork painted by Texas’ Complete Customs is the most obvious reference to the retro RVs.

However, the tacozilla is based on a current gene Tacoma TRD Sport and the Toyota Motorsports Garage have put a lot of effort into developing a loaded and livable ride that follows the modern microhouse trend while also offering occupants over six feet.

“It was our goal to build a vehicle that is properly designed, but also looks really cool,” says project manager Marty Schwerter. “We really didn’t want it to look like a refrigerator on the back of a truck, so you’ll see that it has all of the rounded edges.”

The rounded aluminum camper frame was designed to sit within the dimensions of the base truck. Over 100 hours were spent making a strapped tailgate that doesn’t interfere with the tapered lines of the structure.

The fully insulated interior – lit by a hinged Lexan skylight – has a teak sauna-style floor, a full bathroom with a hot shower, a fully equipped kitchen with a stove and sink, leather bench seats and a 3D-printed dining area table that sits at the Stow also serves as a backlit wall art work. A raised platform above the cockpit offers space for bedding.

The original rear fender flares of the Tacoma were attached to the wheel arch openings of the Tacozilla, which allowed an additional gap of five centimeters. For traction, the team fitted a set of 285/70/17 General Tire Grabber X3 all-terrain tires. Other custom bits include a separate fuel tank filler to isolate vapors and a second battery in the Tacoma’s engine bay for extra power.

The Toyota Tacozilla Camper is completely custom built and may not even be street legal. But based on the buzz it made at SEMA, the Japanese brand may consider launching a conversion kit. Dare to dream.

Toyota tops GM gross sales within the U.S., anticipated to be America’s best-selling automaker

Toyota engine sold out General Motors in the US for the first time during a quarter and is expected to become America’s best-selling automaker.

The Japanese automaker reported sales of 688,813 vehicles in the US from April through June on Thursday. That compares to GM at 688,236 vehicles during the second quarter. Toyota exceeded analysts’ expectations while GM slightly missed forecasts.

The shock was caused by a global chip shortage that has significantly hampered vehicle production. Japanese automakers, especially Toyota, weathered the crisis better than their American competitors.

“You’ve been defying gravity for the past few months,” said Charlie Chesbrough, senior economist at Cox Automotive. “We see that they have very low inventory levels and yet their sales have held up pretty well. … We are really surprised at Toyota’s strength and have had a decent quarter compared to some of the competition.”

The only way Toyota won’t take over the cloak as the best-selling automaker is if Ford engine, the Friday morning sales reports, significantly exceeding analysts’ sales expectations of 645,000 vehicles during the quarter. Ford previously said it was expected loses half of its production in the second quarter because of the chip problem.

The last time GM wasn’t the best-selling automaker for a quarter in the US was when Ford outperformed them during the Great Recession in the third quarter of 1998, Edmunds reports.

According to Jessica Caldwell, Edmunds Executive Director of Insights, Toyota is known for looking far into its supply chain and having more experience managing lower inventory levels. She assumes that there could be major fluctuations in the US market share this year due to the shortage of parts.

“I would definitely expect a small change in market share,” she said. “Toyota has done really well, the Asian brands have done pretty well overall.”

In May, Reuters reported that Toyota was stockpiling semiconductor chips, which are vital to modern vehicles, and that chip scarcity had no major short-term impact.

Toyota declined to comment specifically on sales successes, but released the following statement: “We are grateful to our loyal customers for showing their safety and trust in Toyota and Lexus vehicles, the best brand in terms of safety and quality in the Minds of our customers. And as part of our continuous improvement philosophy, we keep finding better ways to do things and ultimately make better products that our customers love and trust. “

From the endless 600 mile race in Charlotte on Memorial Day weekend NASCAR The planners have decided to give the best drivers in the world a little corner this week.

Here’s a look at the questions for Sunday’s race, plus some notes on each.

Which of these riders will have the best target position at the end of the 2nd stage?
The options: Tyler Reddick, Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski

Reddick might be the guy who flies the most under the radar of all of them on this list. He has finished in the top 10 in seven of his last nine races and has really moved up for Richard Childress Racing. Logano might be the most popular choice, but Reddick might be the smartest.

Which of these riders will have the fastest lap at the end of the second stage?
The options: Ryan Blaney, Kevin Harvick, Alex Bowman, Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch, Joey Logano

We’re still waiting for Hamlin – who is currently leading the scoring even though he hasn’t won this year – to break through in one of those races. This could be a good place for him, with a car that has obviously performed well all year round, even without the checkered flag.

Who has the most points in the race at the end of the 2nd stage?
The options: Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Larson, William Byron, Kyle Busch, tie / others

After seeing Larson last week, it was fashionable to choose him and feel good about yourself. This time we play the contrarian and stay away. Instead, we stick with Elliott, who has won five of the last sixStreet courses. Truex is the other guy to watch at this point.

How many Chevys make it into the top 10 of Stage 2?
The options: 0-3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or more

This is a tough question as Sonoma didn’t have a race last year due to the pandemic. As a result, some of the information and data that would be used could be a little out of date. Still, Chevy has struggled with five in the top 10 finishers since its dominance at Sonoma in 2016. Just one thing to note.

Which team wins phase 2?
The options: Hendrick Motorsports, Team Penske, Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, Tie, others

Hendrick currently has three of the top four drivers in the Cup’s overall standings and has done really well over the past few weeks. Sometimes it is good to make the obvious choice. That would be the obvious choice.
