A whole lot of 1000’s of La. residents set to obtain cash from Youngster Tax Credit score Enlargement

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Hundreds of thousands of Louisiana households could receive direct payments Thursday under the expanded child tax credits.

It’s all part of the American rescue plan that Congress passed back in March.

The aim is to reduce child poverty in the country by 50%.

“And there hasn’t been a program since 1960 that has such an impact on families,” said District II Congressman Troy Carter (D).

Congressman Carter was in Baton Rouge for a town hall on Wednesday to speak with families about how the new expansion of the child tax break works and who can actually get those payments.

Hundreds of thousands of Louisiana residents are expected to receive cash from expanding child tax credits(WAFB)

“You qualify if you make less than $ 150,000 as a couple or $ 75,000 as an individual,” said Rep. Carter.

From July 15 through December, families who qualify can up to:

– $ 300 per month per child, for children ages 0-5

– $ 250 per month per child, for children 6-17 years of age

“So there really is something for everyone. Black, white, Republican, Democrat, it’s an American thing, it’s a Louisiana thing, it’s a people thing, “the congressman said.

“Hoping we can use it for things he needs,” said Triniece Finley, who was visiting town hall.

Finley is a single mom and says every little bit helps when it comes to extra cash for her 6 year old son Logan.

“Swimming lessons and whatever he needs in school and stuff,” Finley said.

“Yes, every dollar counts,” said Deshawn Porter, who was visiting City Hall.

Porter is in the same boat and already has some ideas about how she would use the extra money.

“School supplies, school uniforms, because things are so expensive these days, we have to sacrifice to get what we need to get,” Porter said.

If you’ve filed your 2019 or 2020 tax returns, or signed up for a stimulus check from the IRS, you’ll receive this money automatically. So you don’t have to sign up anywhere.

“You will likely have this transfer deposited directly into your checking account (if you submitted electronically). If you haven’t filed this this way, checks will be dropped in the mailbox so you can get them in the mail, ”said Rep. Carter.

While this is only a 6 month program, Carter hopes it will be permanent. To do this, however, Congress needs bipartisan support.

Scammers are already finding ways to take money from families waiting for these children ...Scammers are already finding ways to take money from families waiting for these child tax breaks.(WAFB)

“Why shouldn’t we give resources to people who are here in our country, who fight and live in America, the greatest country in the world,” said Troy Carter.

Scammers are already finding ways to take money from families waiting for these child tax breaks.

South Central Louisiana’s Better Business Bureau would like to remind you that the only agency that distributes payments is the IRS.

This means the IRS won’t send you a text message or email asking for your social security number or personal banking information.

So if you get a strange message asking for it, don’t reply.

Shilpa Shetty’s sunshine yellow skirt and shirt set proves her fashion is everlasting | Vogue Tendencies

Besides entertaining her fans as a judge on the reality TV show Super Dancer Chapter 4, Shilpa Shetty Kundra has also proven her tailoring skills. The actress experimented with different silhouettes for her appearances on the show. For her latest look, she slipped into a lively outfit.

Shilpa Shetty recently went to Instagram to share a picture and video of herself in a sun yellow skirt and blouse by designer Tarun Tahiliani. She shared her photo with the caption: “Fashion may fade, but style is forever.” And we agree, the star’s style and elegance are eternal.

For the shoot, Shilpa wore a fluted georgette blouse with flared, transparent sleeves. The V-neck had an overlapping silhouette that was pulled together at the waist with a satin silk belt. The backless blouse had a pre-draped dupatta on the shoulders, which gives it an ethereal look.

The actor wore the blouse with a matching draped georgette skirt with reinforced multiple layers. The layers of tulle gave the ensemble a detailed look and we absolutely love it.

Shilpa chose traditional accessories like a layered emerald-adorned necklace with matching rings and bracelets. She left her locks open with the clothes. Her silky locks have been blow-dried and layered to add depth.

For glamor, Shilpa chose heavy kohl eyes, smooth eyeliner, mascara on the lashes, well-defined eyebrows, subtle smoky eye shadow, radiant skin, shiny metallic lip color, a slight touch of blush on the cheeks and a radiant highlighter on the face.

Shilpa Shetty loves her Indian clothing, be it detailed lehenga sets, lively concept sarees or anarkalis with a dramatic flair. Her traditional looks with modern twists are always eye-catching, and this bright yellow look did the same.

What do you think of Shilpa’s appearance?

Bitcoin worth to set new report by year-end, institutional cash will flood in as soon as this occurs – Jason City

The multi-month decline in the price of Bitcoin, which began in April when the world’s largest cryptocurrency began its descent from record highs at the time, will only last the summer, according to Jason Urban, co-head of Galaxy Digital Trading at Galaxy Digital.

Speaking to Kitco News editor-in-chief Michelle Makori, Urban said institutional investors will re-emerge into the room through fall this year, pushing the price back up, breaking new all-time highs and at least US $ 70,000 by the end of the year -Dollars to achieve.

Galaxy Digital is a diversified financial services company focused on cryptocurrencies with four lines of business: asset management, trading, principal investing and investment banking. Founded by Michael Novogratz, the company recently partnered with Goldman Sachs to trade Bitcoin futures.

“I definitely think we can see a little over $ 70,000 by the end of the year,” said Urban. “I think we can expect all of the FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) we’ve seen over the past few weeks to cause a flat trend in the market this summer and I think that when we get into the Fall is coming, a lot of these institutional takeovers and these ambitious moves that we’ve seen are going to manifest, and we should see the market break those highs. ”

So what has been holding back the institutions so far? It’s no less, but it lacks clarity about the rules institutional investors need, noted Urban.

“I think there is obviously some regulatory clarity about what can and cannot be done,” he said. “The smart players [in the crypto space] want to work with regulators to find solutions that address their concerns while allowing the technology to thrive. ”

Urban comments come as Bitcoin has just faced a new onslaught of criticism, this time from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), which wrote in a recent report that “Cryptocurrencies are speculative assets, rather than money, and are used in many instances to facilitate money laundering ”. , Ransomware attacks and other financial crime. ”

Earlier this week, the People’s Bank of China banned Bitcoin over-the-counter trading in China and banned several large miners, reducing the country’s crypto mining capacity by 90%.

Urban said regulations could be beneficial, but attempts to ban Bitcoin are simply pointless.

“You can’t forbid progress. You can regulate it, you just can’t ban it, ”he said.

For more details on where institutions are on the acceptance curve and what Urban sees as the only existential threat to Bitcoin, watch the video above. Follow Michelle Makori on Twitter @MichelleMakori (https://twitter.com/MichelleMakori).

Purposes set to open for grant cash for coastal houses to arrange for hurricanes

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – South Carolina Home Mitigation Grant Program applications will open in a few weeks, and South Carolina Department of Insurance officials are encouraging you to prepare for the application now as the money is being distributed quickly.

According to Ray Farmer, director of the SCDOI, the grant funding from this program will help homeowners along the coast retrofit their homes to prepare them for hurricanes and severe wind damage.

Farmer said the grant can be used for things like secondary water barriers, hurricane shutters, stiffening gable ends, and more.

“The most popular attempt is to build a fortified roof to make it stronger,” said Farmer. “Either the $ 5,000 or $ 4,000 grants, they won’t build a bunker for you, but it will go a long way in helping our consumers prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.”

According to the SCDOI, the amount of funds depends on the applicant’s income.

“If you hit certain low income levels, you can get a $ 5,000 grant,” Farmer said. “If you fail to meet these thresholds, you will still be eligible for a corresponding grant of up to $ 4,000.”

Farmer said they give away between $ 2 million and $ 2.3 million every year. This money will be split over two application periods, one from July 1st and one from December 1st. He encourages everyone to apply in July and again in December if they don’t get the money in the first round of applications.

According to the SCDOI, retrofitted or reinforced houses reduce the likelihood and intensity of storm damage, which ultimately leads to fewer and fewer insurance claims and ultimately lowers insurance premiums for citizens.

“For every dollar we spend on containment upfront, it will save six dollars after a storm,” Farmer said. “It certainly makes sense to make our houses more resilient, also against flooding.”

Charleston Coliseum & Conference Heart set for busy summer season, fall as leisure business makes a comeback

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – A spate of announcements from the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center over the past few weeks has got fans of all entertainment genres excited about what’s ahead and a sign that the industry is coming back to life after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Patrick Leahy, the general manager of the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center (CCCC), told MetroNews that now is the time for the entertainment industry as state and national guidelines for the virus relax and more people are vaccinated.

“Around February first, the industry saw the light at the end of the tunnel and started planning shows for the fall and next year,” Leahy said.

In the past week alone, CCCC officials announced that musical acts Lynyrd Skynyrd, Judas Preist and Foreigner, as well as comedian Jeff Foxworthy, were arriving in Charleston this fall.

It’s in addition to the planned comedian acts by Jim Gaffigan and Bert Kreischer and musical guests James Taylor, Jason Aldean, Aaron Lewis and Stateliners, The Avett Brothers, Brantley Gilbert and Chicago for this fall and winter.

Leahy, who also works for the facility as director of booking, said planning for the fall started with sourcing and negotiations in November 2020. He said the pace of activity has increased in recent months.

Patrick Leahy

He praised the broader relationship of the new Management group of CCCC, Oak View, for shows quickly booked in Charleston once restrictions have been eased. He said there was more access to information about who’s on tour, what they’re trying to achieve, and how to make a compelling case for coming to Charleston.

“This market has a great history, has a great concert history. We tell the story of why Charleston, ”Leahy said.

VIEW: The complete schedule for the CCCC

For Leahy it is important that a community meeting place like the CCCC and its branches reflect the community. Event organizers have tried to offer a variety of programs to keep everyone interested.

“We are confident that we can attract a wide range of events, be it music, sports, family and more,” he said.

Aside from rock and country announced for the fall, the Charleston Municipal Auditorium is hosting a juneteenth celebration on June 18 with hip-hop artists Yung Bleu & Mooski. The officials are also enthusiastic about the ticket sales for Blippi, the musical for children.

From a sporting perspective, CCCC will host a nationwide televised basketball tournament (TBT) event from July 17-21. The games feature star college basketball program alumni, including WVU and Marshall, playing for $ 1 million on the ESPN family of networks.

Leahy said Charleston’s national presence is an important detail for future bookings and economic development.

“Companies looking for ways to do business in the market are looking for the same amenities and activities as other cities,” Leahy said.

Leahy said that from March 2020, when the pandemic started, to June this year, there were 127 events at the CCCC. But not many came with the excitement of these future events knowing there should be full crowds and live atmospheres.

The CCCC is aggressive Hire people to work on the events and facilities that are preparing for these much larger crowds.
