WASHINGTON – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order on Monday suspending immediately all pending local Covid-19 emergency orders and related public health restrictions.

“The fact is that we are no longer in a state of emergency,” DeSantis said during a press conference. He conceded that Florida was not finished with its fight against the coronavirus, but reiterated the nation’s decline in Covid-19 cases and deaths.

“I think that’s the evidence-based thing,” DeSantis said, adding that asking vaccinated people to continue wearing masks would undermine confidence in the coronavirus vaccine.

Private businesses may still require masks and enforce social distancing and other protective measures.

DeSantis signed an invoice on Monday this codifies the Executive Ordinance with effect from July 1st. The executive order, he said, should “fill the gap” by then. The move, which is effectively ending all local restrictions related to pandemics, also bans vaccination certificates.

Florida has reported the third most common Covid-19 cases in the US with more than 2.2 million since the pandemic began and the fourth highest death toll with more than 35,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. However, the average number of new cases there has dropped more than 13% in the past week and dropped to 4,885 according to data on Sunday.

The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Last week, the Biden government announced a relaxation of federal health guidelines on wearing masks outdoors.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that fully vaccinated people exercise and participate in small outdoor gatherings to wear without a face mask. The agency also recommends that fully vaccinated individuals wear a mask in crowded outdoor areas.

American airlines and more than two dozen other industry groups on Monday called on the Biden government to put in place a plan by May to lift international travel restrictions, including standards for digital vaccination records, after cross-border travel in the US was destroyed Covid pandemic.

Airlines for America, which represents major US airlines such as American, United, southwest and others sent a letter Jeffrey Zients, the White House’s Covid-19 Response Team coordinator, said the guidelines should exempt vaccinated individuals from international testing rules.

Among other things, the groups urged the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to update their guidelines to say vaccinated people can travel safely, according to a copy of the letter viewed by CNBC.

“To be clear, we do not currently endorse the repeal or relaxation of key public health safeguards such as the universal mask mandate, in-depth international testing requirements, physical distancing, or any other measure that would make travel safer and the transmission of life Virus, “said the letter, which was also signed by the US Chamber of Commerce, the largest flight attendant union and other industry groups. “However, the data and scientific evidence show that the right public health measures are now being taken to effectively mitigate risk and enable entry restrictions to be lifted safely.”

Most non-US citizens who have recently been to Europe, the UK and Brazil have been banned from entering the US since last March when the then President Donald Trump introduced the rules when Covid-19 spread around the world. President in January Joe Biden expanded entry restrictions and added South Africa to the list as infections and new, more contagious variants emerged

The group also called on the White House to set standards for digital health records that immigration officials can use to show evidence of vaccinations or test results.

Meanwhile, airlines and officials have been looking for ways to use digital vaccines or health passports to boost travel and eventually replace travel restrictions. The European Union last week proposed a digital health certificate with a QR code that contains vaccine and Covid-19 test results.

Delta Airlines‘CEO Ed Bastian told NBC Nightly News last week that he expects digital vaccination records to be required for international travel.

The White House declined to comment, pointing to arRecommendation against travel the CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky gave Monday.

“Now is not the time to travel,” she said at a press conference.

“We are concerned not only with what happens when you are on the plane yourself, but also with what happens when people travel, that is, they go out, they mingle, they mingle with people who are not vaccinated “, she said.

COVID-19: Restrictions On Gyms, On line casino, Leisure In New York To Be Lifted

New York is lifting some of its COVID-19 restrictions and curfews as the state continues to recover from the virus’ winter flood.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday March 17 that the state is lifting restrictions on its five remaining COVID-19 “yellow zone” clusters and allowing companies to continue opening.

Starting Monday, March 22nd, indoor fitness classes with a capacity of 33 percent can reopen nationwide. Health exams and contact information are required when registering. Classes should be scheduled so that there is additional time for cleaning and disinfection between sessions.

The local health departments will be tasked with inspecting the fitness centers within two weeks of the site reopening.

As of Monday, April 5, the curfew currently in force in casinos, cinemas, bowling alleys, billiard halls, fitness studios and fitness centers will be lifted at 11:00 p.m.

The curfew for food and beverage establishments at 11 p.m. and the curfew for events with catering at 12 p.m. remain in effect. Both curfews will be evaluated at the end of April.

“New York is reopening our economy and looking forward to a post-COVID world,” said Cuomo. “We know the vaccine is the weapon that defeats this invisible enemy, and we are getting more gunshots than ever before.”

“As we reopen and more New Yorkers get their vaccines, it’s more important than ever to continue the practices we know about to stop the spread of COVID-19.”

relaxed Covid restrictions imply new life for leisure venues

DULUTH, MN – On Friday, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced looser Covid restrictions across the state.

These relaxed capacity constraints were good news for entertainment venues.

From Monday they can accommodate larger crowds.

“These are life events that shape who we are. These things can be done and be safe,” said Governor Walz.

With warmer months on the horizon, says Governor Walz, people can safely gather together.

“You can keep more distance. You can be outside. You are not inside when it comes to ventilation or spreading,” he said.

This was welcome news for entertainment venues like DECC in Duluth.

The staff there also manage the Bayfront Festival Park, which hosts many of the summer outdoor summer events in Northland.

“A much more normal summer for 2021. I don’t think either of us know what this will be, but we are very encouraged and optimistic about a great outdoor season,” said Roger Reinert, interim executive director at DECC.

It’s not just outside spaces.

Reinert said the announcement will open the doors to other indoor events such as graduations, weddings and sporting events.

“We had a number of events with asterisks on the calendar both here and at Bayfront, depending on where the guidelines are,” said Reinert. “If we look at this table, those asterisks are all gone today.”

For many, Friday’s announcement may be a sign of better days after a really difficult year.

“This is the day we will look back and say that the DECC survived the pandemic,” said Reinert.

Eased COVID-19 restrictions assist Raleigh stay leisure, occasion planning companies

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) – Standing behind his turntables on a Friday night is a feeling Joe Bunn has missed for almost a year.

“I mean, we postponed 350 weddings last year. There’s never been a worse year being a DJ, ”said Bunn, owner of the Bunn DJ Company.

However, this is not just true for DJs. The entire live entertainment and event planning industry suffered great success when it was forced to close its stores due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nicole Flynn, Marketing Representative at Catering Works, also felt the blow.

“We had to take pretty much all of our employees on leave. We usually have more than 100 employees here and now there are only 24, ”said Flynn.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel. Starting Friday, restrictions in North Carolina – including greater indoor capacity, a later curfew, and the ability to serve alcohol for longer – will ease not just for bar owners.

“Since the announcement, our phones have been ringing a little more, and we have received a few more emails and inquiries. I think my start is in early April and then it’s every single weekend until next year. I’m very glad about that. People really need to dance and listen to music now, ”said Bunn.

Many companies look forward to the chance to regain a little sense of normalcy in the midst of a business boom.

“People are becoming more confident and comfortable planning events again. There are still some concerns but we are going in the right direction which is great, ”said Flynn.

Both are aware that another shutdown might be possible in the future, but they are optimistic that people will continue to wear masks and keep social distancing.

NJ eases COVID-19 restrictions for sports activities, leisure

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is loosening the state’s COVID-19 restrictions a bit to allow a limited number of fans at sports and entertainment events.

Speaking on WFAN Radio in New York, Murphy said that some fans would be permitted inside larger arenas, effective next week Monday.

“For any venue that has 5,000 or more capacity, whether it’s indoor sports or indoor entertainment, we’re going to allow 10% of capacity for folks to attend,” he said.

Murphy said outdoor venues can have spectators up to 15% capacity. He said people would have to follow familiar COVID-19 rules.

“Everybody’s gotta do the stuff that we’re all used to these days: face coverings, social distancing,” he said.

“If you buy your tickets together, you can sit together, but otherwise we gotta stay away from each other.”

Murphy also announced that, effective immediately, parents of college athletes would be able to watch their children compete, similar to the announcement he made last week regarding high schools.

NEW:
☑️Effective immediately, indoor & outdoor collegiate sports practices & competitions may allow 2 parents/guardians per participating athlete as spectators – as long as these numbers don’t exceed 35% of the indoor room’s capacity & social distancing can be maintained outdoors

— Governor Phil Murphy (@GovMurphy) February 22, 2021

The governor said he was able to relax the restrictions because a number of coronavirus metrics have been trending downwards, including hospitalizations and case counts.
