Food network Star Molly Yeh is a huge fan of dishes that remind her of her favorite restaurants. While with her husband Nick Hagen, Yeh enjoyed going to her local restaurant and having a burger between two regular pieces of bread. Called a diner style patty melt that Favorite treat is easy to put together and even more pleasant to eat. The Girl Meets Farm star said of the dish, “It’s like a grilled cheese marrying a burger and creating a wonderful new experience.”

Molly Yeh’s diner-style Patty Melt is a dinner wonder
Diner-style Yehs Patty fuses the best bits of a cheeseburger and sandwich into a happy marriage of oozing cheese with sautéed vegetables and crusty bread. It’s perfect for one quick and satisfying dinner.
And the best part: you don’t need an outside grill to prepare the burgers. The meat can be cooked on a grill pan.
While this recipe uses beef patties, it can be easily adapted to use chopped chicken, turkey, or even plant-based patties with the same delicious results.
A patty with onions, peppers, and lots of cheese would be fab enough. Yeh comes as a surprise, however, by using sturdy garlic bread Texas toast straight from the supermarket freezer to improve the flavor profile and prevent the sandwich from falling apart.
Make this taste sensation for dinner tonight!
The ingredients for Yeh’s diner style patty melt are simple. You can either use store-bought hamburger patties or form your own with a packet of ground beef.
If you go this route, salt and pepper the meat, add some Worcestershire sauce, and form large meatballs. Make an indentation in the center with your fingers so that the meat does not puff up in the center when it is cooked.
This burger is topped with a delicious sauce made from mayonnaise, mustard, caraway seeds, salt and pepper.
Heat a pan and cook peppers and onions until tender. Cook the burgers on the same griddle. Add Texas toast to the pan, but toast only one side of the bread.
Take the toast off the grill and place it on board with the grilled side facing you. Add sauce, patties, pepper and onion mixture, and two layers of cheese to a piece of toast. Cover with the second slice of bread. Make sure that the grilled side is facing the meat and toppings.
Add more butter to the griddle and place the sandwich on top so the outer layers to toast and the cheese to melt. Turn when one side is toasted – cook the other side. Serve immediately.
