TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Retired 8 On Your Side Reporter Peter Bernard was trying to sell a piano so he reached out to eBay. One buyer was interested, but there was a catch.

Bernard asked for $ 250 for the piano. But the buyer sent a check for $ 2,750 and asked him to transfer $ 2,400 to the Venmo account of an alleged moving company that would then pick up the piano.

“If I had gone through with this, I would have lost the $ 2,400 and it would have been extremely embarrassing,” said Bernard, who untangled the plan.

Old septic tank safely removed from the St. Pete yard after the tow truck driver crushed it and tried to fill the hole with debris

He has called Better to call Behnken to warn others not to fall for it. If someone wants to buy something that you sell online and offers to send you extra money so you can pay someone else, it is illegitimate.

The gist of the scheme is this: it can take a few days for the bank to determine that a check is bad. By then, the victim would have sent the crook real money. If the check pops up, the victim is hooked for the entire amount.

In this case, the check appeared to be from a hospital, which confirmed that the check was forged.

The name on the envelope was a woman in Spokane, Washington. This woman, Lauren Camp, says she is a victim of identity theft and this is not the first time she has heard her name have been used in a possible system.

“Someone tried to buy something worth $ 6,000 in New Zealand,” she said.

Someone else, she said, tried to buy a $ 12,000 truck in her name.

Reside leisure, extra menu objects deliberate for Oakmont Greek Meals Competition

Live entertainment, outdoor seating and more menu items are part of the return of the Oakmont Greek Food Festival later this month.

It is the 47th year for the festival presented by the Dormition of the Greek Orthodox Church Theotokos at 12 Washington Avenue.

Food will be served from June 25th to 27th from 12pm to 9pm. Entertainment can last longer into the night.

Event co-chair Andy Gavrilos said the volunteers worked very hard and followed the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to prevent the pandemic as much as possible.

“We’re very happy about that,” he said. “The church has asked us (to return to normal). They were very patient as we tried to deal with last year’s problems. Everyone fought.

“Our hope and belief is that our community will support the choices we have made. We are still developing. We’re still evaluating policies and rules and considering a few other options. “

One of the decisions was to bring back moussaka – layers of ground beef with potatoes and eggplant, accented with bechamel sauce. It was one of the items that was cut out at the festival last year when it went Car restaurant with no dancers, no seating and a very limited menu.

Other food changes include a new pack of pastries for chocolate lovers, and one that’s just baklava.

Honey balls were once again removed from the menu. However, sources said they could be added closer to the festival. Updates will be on his. released Facebook site.

Unique dinners such as chicken alexis, lamb knuckle, pork nouvlaki and the legendary church gyros are offered while supplies last.

The Grecian Odyssey Dancers and Jr. Grecian Stars are expected to perform every three days.

Organizers have been discussing for the past few months bringing back the drive-thru layout with motorists following traffic cones and ropes to a three-seat ordering tent.

But Gavrilos said they were comfortable with the restrictions lifted and enough people vaccinated so that people can go outside and have limited seating.

“I think people are ready to forget the trials and tribulations of the past 18 months and have fun again,” said Gavrilos. “We had good results (with drive-thru). We worked hard to really streamline the process and make it as fast as possible. At the beginning of the year we were pretty sure that we would make another trip.

“We did some pre-planning with that in mind, hoping things would open up. We think we’ll get a nice audience based on the fact that things are opening up. There are still some people who are still suspicious of crowds. “

Masks are recommended but not required. Guests are also asked to distance themselves socially whenever possible.

Cash transactions are prohibited; Debit or credit cards are accepted.

Australian actor Alex Dimitriades on retro type, important wardrobe objects, and a Madonna style second

Every week Sunday Life asks a celebrity about their style and the inspiration behind it. Editor Georgie Gordon talks to actor Alex Dimitriades beforehand.

“I don’t follow trends anymore. I basically reconstruct all of my favorite things I grew up with. There’s a little bit of retro going on. “Recognition:Damian Bennett

How would you describe your style?
Mood based. Style is about what makes you happy and what you are, rather than being trend-based. Lots of people try to follow things that don’t suit them. you have to adapt to your personality.

What’s the oldest in your dressing room?
A fantastic Earth, Wind & Fire 1975 tour shirt that I bought from a vintage store in Santa Monica on my first trip to Los Angeles 25 years ago.

And the latest addition?
Black Bally leather pants.

What would you wear …
… on the first date? Black leather pants with a white shirt and black monk strap Bally shoes. It’s the ultimate smart casual look to wear anywhere.
… on an airplane? I dress comfortably, but you want to look good too, so everything is a bit casual – comfortable pants, no jeans. It’s getting cold up there, so I always have a hat and a scarf.
… to the Oscars? A tuxedo but with an edge, something to personalize it. For example, when I won a lodging for The Principal in 2016, I was wearing a vintage white tuxedo and a Le Noeud Papillon bow tie that looked black but was actually purple. I wore it as a tribute to Prince who had just died.

What’s your favorite fashion era?
I recently saw a picture of the Jackson 5 in 1971: Michael was just a kid, they wear striped bell bottoms, large collared shirts, and hats – it’s psychedelic with a ’60s vibe. I feel that.

Do you have a favorite fashion designer?
No. Every great designer has his or her moments, they cannot all stay at their peak.

What is your favorite scent?
I tend to layer them by mood. The Tom Ford range is a breeze.
