Neon indicators are again in fashion. This time, as dwelling decor

You might expect to see a neon sign outside a bar or even on the wall of a hip restaurant for that Instagram-perfect moment, but how does it fare as home decor? People across the United States and around the world are putting up neon signs in their homes.

Advances in LED technology have made neon signs cheaper and easier than ever to make, so now is the perfect time to buy.

What are neon signs?

Real neon signs use glass tubes that are heated and bent into shape by hand. The tubes are filled with gases that react with an electric current flowing through the tube, causing it to glow. Different gases produce different colors. While true neon has a vintage appeal, signs of this type are expensive to manufacture, power hungry, and contain potentially toxic chemicals, albeit in amounts too small to cause harm if the sign shatters and releases them.

Many modern neon signs are not made using the true neon method. Instead, they use acrylic tubes filled with LED lights. This method is known as LED neon. While some people still prefer real neon signs, and undeniably a significant amount of skill and craftsmanship goes into their manufacture, LED neon is significantly cheaper to buy and run.

Are neon signs just advertising?

While neon signs have traditionally been for advertising, that certainly doesn’t mean they’re just for advertising. You can find all kinds of neon signs. Some feature words, some feature images, and others include both. However, some people like to collect or display vintage neon signs that were originally used for advertising purposes, especially from well-known brands like Coors or Coca-Cola.

Can I buy custom neon signs?

Yes, some companies that make neon signs offer custom signs, which is ideal if you want a personalized sign. You can have signs personalized with any text you want, be it your name, a joke in your household or anything else you would like on a neon sign.

How to showcase neon signs as home decor

You can put neon signs on your wall in the same way as a Picture Frame. Large neon signs usually need to be fixed to the wall with special hardware, but smaller neon signs can be hung on a picture hook or work with command bars. Some small neon signs even come with stands so you can place them on a shelf or credenza if you prefer to hang them on the wall. If you’re wondering if a neon sign will look good with the rest of your home decor, don’t worry too much. Neon signs stand out in neutrally decorated rooms or add an extra focal point in rooms that are already boldly decorated.

From the Dwelling Kitchen of Chef Aaron: French-Fashion Yogurt

French style yoghurt

The number one tip is to save a little yogurt as a starter for your next batch.

ONEAs we find ourselves more and more at home, many of us have chosen to cook things ourselves that we would normally buy without a second thought.

For me, one such product was yogurt; After preparing a batch, you suddenly realize that the process is so simple and straightforward that you don’t have to buy yogurt again. (You still will, but… you know.)

Chef Aaron EganChef Aaron Egan

The number one tip is to save a little yogurt as a starter for your next batch—otherwise, get ready to make a new batch of yogurt, only to find you’re buying a small container of plain yogurt to make yourself a large container of plain yogurt.

I fill my yogurt into 6-ounce jars from old store-bought yogurts from the past; You can use jam or jelly mason jars or reusable sealable containers of any type you like. Try to use things that don’t pick up strong flavors — the last thing you want is vanilla onion yogurt.

This is also a great recipe for Shabbat – once heated there is no more cooking. Once in the oven to ferment, it is touched for at least 12 hours.

French style yoghurt

Yield: About 6-7 5-ounce servings of yogurt

ingredients

  • 4¾ cups whole milk
  • ¾ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 TBSP. existing yogurt

directions

  1. Pour the milk and sugar into a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until it reaches 180°F. Hold between 180°F-190°F for one hour. Stir frequently throughout the process to avoid burning or cooking the milk proteins. (I always end up with a little bit of boiled milk, so don’t worry if it’s not perfect. You want to avoid actual burning.)
  2. Turn off the heat and allow the milk to cool to about 110°F on the counter or stove.
  3. Place the plain yogurt in a bowl and add 1/4 cup of the warm milk, then beat until no lumps remain.
  4. Add the mixture and vanilla extract to the saucepan and mix well.
  5. Place the jars you will be using on a sheet pan/baking pan. Portion the finished yoghurt mixture into the glasses. Cover with plastic wrap.
  6. Turn on your oven to preheat for 90 seconds. Turn it off, place the yogurt tray in the oven and leave the oven light on. If this is not possible, a small paraffin wax candle or 12 hour tealight candle will keep the temperature in the oven slightly warmer than body temperature (in that 100-110 range).
  7. Fermentation, untouched, for 12 hours (or longer, my last batch went 16 hours.)
  8. Remove from the oven and refrigerate for several hours to get the best texture. Cover individually after cooling completely. This yogurt has a thick, creamy consistency and should stand slightly when scooped out of the container.

distinctive pastel pink eco-friendly Disney-style residence on the market ‘off plan’

A totally one-of-a-kind, eco-friendly Disney-style home in the north London is for sale but has not yet been built.

The cloud house – actually a pair of adjoining pastel pink and blue-green houses inspired by Miami Art Deco – was designed by architect Peter Morris. It Building permit received from Camden Council in July 2020 after provoking polarized reactions among neighbors in Gospel Oak.

The two new homes will replace the “polluting,” heat-leaking Victorian home that Mr. Morris currently resides in with his wife, TV producer Emma Kennedy, and their teenage daughter, and on an adjacent property.

The couple originally planned to live in one and sell the neighboring house after the project was complete. The difficulty of raising funds to build both of them means they will sell a house before construction begins.

What the attic kitchen could look like (Peter Morris)

What the attic kitchen could look like (Peter Morris)

The somewhat complicated arrangement means that the buyer would buy Mr Morris’ existing home while keeping the property next door. They would then tear down the Victorian property and build the two cloud houses. The architect estimates that the process from sale to completion would take about 18 months.

The house is on the market for £ 1.2 million with an expected additional cost of £ 800,000 on the construction project. The original plan was for the finished house to be worth £ 2.25 million.

“We have a full interior design right down to the stove brand, but now the buyer has the option to completely change the interior design if they wish,” said Morris.

“It’s currently designed as an upside down four bedroom, four bathroom house, but someone could change the number of rooms and the layout. There’s a rooftop pool that could probably be made bigger and you might not want the interior design to be as expansive as we planned. “

The property caught attention with its distinctive design with several extravagantly curved windows inspired by the nearby St. Martin Church. The listed church, built in 1865, was described by the architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner (1902-83) as “the craziest of” LondonVictorian Churches, ”largely because of its incomplete-looking towers and William Morris stained-glass windows.

The story goes on

In harmony with Current architectural trends for individuality, bold color palettes and fun, the current interior design features contrasting colors and patterns, terrazzo countertops with cow print and neon yellow accessories in the kitchen, pale turquoise stairs and dotted tiles on the roof terrace and throughout the house.

The environmentally friendly features include gray water recycling, underfloor heating with an air heat pump and almost passive house airtightness and insulation.

“If Antoni Gaudi were to develop houses today, in our opinion this would have been his characteristic style,” der Entry on the website of the Unique Property Company reads.

“We got a lot of interest from design enthusiasts who want to live in something completely different from an ordinary pitched roof house,” said Morris.

Type at Residence: After the vacations, declutter (then re-clutter) | Siouxland Properties

From Katie Laughridge Tribune News Service

Another magical Christmas season is coming to an end. The holidays may not feel “normal” yet, but I still enjoyed bringing out my favorite decorations from Halloween to Thanksgiving to the Christmas finale. Having Christmas decorations all over the house adds an extra dose of serenity, and I think that was especially popular this year.

But now it’s time to put all that glitter and glitter back in the basement by next year. I’m always a little melancholy when I see the vacation scraps leave my room. The house has never been as lively as I remembered it from a pink September. I always think I’ll be thrilled – finally a clean house! – but somehow it feels a bit empty after all the pomp of the past few months. This dilemma drives me to freshen up my rooms to start a new year full of good vibes and happy feelings. I tend to use a few tried and true methods of redesigning my space. I call this system (jokingly) “tidying up, then tidying up again”.

The first step towards an overhaul is the clearing out phase. I wrap my seasonal delicacies (sort by tree or vignette and room if possible), remove holiday illusions from pillow inserts and dust the glitter from the mantelpiece. Next, I look around the room with fresh eyes. You might find your color palette stagnant; maybe the walls aren’t popping as hard as you’d like. There’s even a chance the green hid a chip on your second favorite ginger jar. Now is the time to remove anything that seems unnecessary or doesn’t match your vision for 2022. While you’re at it, move the sofa to the other side of the room – you know you’ve been wondering if that would open up the room. Once your room is ready, it’s time to freshen up and “clean up” which is just my naughty way of adding some new additions to your space.

Sometimes all that’s missing is a fresh coat of paint for an old-fashioned home. A new wall color can bring new life to textiles that feel flat by bringing out new and exciting hues. Or, if that requires too much exercise, bring fresh fabrics for an energy boost. I love changing my pillow cases and throwing a new throw in to brighten up my rooms and change my aesthetic.

New art and accessories can create a brand new space. As we all spend more time in our homes during the coming cold (and COVID) season, it’s always fun to bring new items for the eyes. Create a visual wonderland of fabulous art to fill the void of the Christmas exhibition and transform your room from drab to cheerful. Or rearrange your shelf displays for a refreshed #shelfie that will add a new dynamic to your space.

When the winter chill hits us, we’ll be spending a lot more time at home (it’s hibernation, after all). What better time to have a home rejuvenation than when we are stuck in it?

LHC Group Goals to Make Worth-Primarily based Buying House Well being Care’s Model of ‘Moneyball’

Many home caregivers have seen pay increases this year due to labor shortages and skyrocketing demand.

In some cases, the providers increased the remuneration in order to strengthen internal loyalty and to minimize the use of costly temporary workers. Bruce Greenstein, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at LHC Group Inc. (Nasdaq: LHCG) believes that wage increases are simply the market that works the way it is widely believed.

“The price of the work itself has increased dramatically,” Greenstein told Home Health Care News. “And to a certain extent it may just be a market that works efficiently because we have massive excess demand for a limited supply of this thing.”

Thanks to the raise above, some nurses have been able to use money on travel, pay off student loans, or save more money for their families, he said.

While the current labor price is about 50% above normal levels, it will eventually stabilize, Greenstein added. But even if it does, providers can still likely expect a rate of around 5 to 10% more than they did before the pandemic.

“What we need to do as a nation is really focus on producing a larger clinical workforce,” he said. “Our universities have to get stronger. The state and federal governments must draw attention to this. Companies need to invest in training programs. We can no longer take the availability of both clinical and non-clinical care for granted. “

Technology also plays an important role in employee retention, although vendors often under-invest in the area, said Greenstein, who previously served as CTO of the U.S. Department of Health (HHS). In a 2021 survey by software and technology company Forcura, for example, only 38% of respondents gave technology adoption a top priority.

“We need to keep evolving and evolving our technology infrastructure to drive the productivity gains that come with properly implementing the technology,” he said. “And we really need to cultivate and develop people who are both well versed in the home health business and who really master the technology.”

The “money ball” of home nursing

In the early 2000s, major league baseball was disrupted by a new way of thinking. Statistical analysis changed the way the game was played, and the most efficient – not necessarily talented or richest – teams gained an edge.

All of this is documented in the book “Moneyball” by the author Michael Lewis, which titled the revolutionary way of thinking in the title.

Greenstein believes the Value-Based Purchasing Model (HHVBP) for home nursing could be home nursing’s own wallet.

“I’m excited about the decision to deploy the model nationwide,” he said. “It was one of [the most effective] Programs in the History of the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI). And if I could change something, I would ask CMMI and CMS to pass on some of the savings to the GPs who are creating the savings. “

The LHC Group took part in seven of the nine HHVBP demo countries and scored “very good” according to Greenstein.

“We’re doing really well with patient satisfaction and we do above average on readmissions,” he said. “When we think about how we’re going to do this, we intend to make the program ‘Moneyball’. It’s about paying attention to the individual characteristics of each agency. “

By and large, this means going to the individual agency – and individual clinician – level to provide coaching and support for HHVBP to be successful.

This is where technology comes into play again. To implement a detailed “moneyball” strategy for HHVBP, the technology must act as an intermediary.

“Technology is really important here,” said Greenstein. “We believe we will do really well there. Both the delivery and the orchestration of these assets together enable us to [execute] to this great idea. I think any agency will come up with a great idea for the value buying program – but if you can’t orchestrate and execute it, your results will be relatively stable. “

No Manner Residence’ home field workplace third finest opening

Tom Holland plays Peter Parker in Marvel’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.

Disney

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” broke the pandemic box office records this weekend, opening with estimated ticket sales of $ 253 million.

Not only is this the biggest film debut of 2021, but the third-best opening of all time after “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War”. Sony’s Sunday number is an estimate, however, and by Monday that number could potentially change slightly, lifting “No Way Home” up the charts.

In the end, Marvels “No Way Home” is not far behind “Infinity War,” which started in 2018 at $ 257.6 million. According to Comscore, “Avengers: Endgame” is the highest-grossing film opening of all time with $ 357.1 million.

“This weekend’s historic ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ results from around the world and in the face of many challenges reaffirm the unmatched cultural impact that exclusive motion pictures can have when made and marketed with foresight and determination,” said Tom Rothman, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group.

Audiences rushed to theaters early this weekend to see “No Way Home” before potential spoilers could have leaked online. resulting in a $ 121.5 million withdrawal on Fridayincluding $ 50 million from Thursday night preview shows. Sony reported that the film added $ 73.8 million on Saturday and estimates ticket sales of around $ 57.3 million by the end of Sunday.

Internationally, “No Way Home” fetched $ 334.2 million in 60 overseas markets, resulting in a worldwide profit of $ 587.2 million, the third highest global opening ever.

“This is positive evidence that moviegoers will show up with the right movie,” said Jeff Bock, senior analyst at Exhibitor Relations. “This is a win for the studios … so the studios with a multiverse of IP.”

Audiences rushed to theaters early this weekend to see “No Way Home” before potential spoilers leaked online. The box office saw a similar fervor in 2019 when Avengers: Endgame was released led to the highest national and global opening ever.

Box office analysts anticipate audiences will return to theaters to see the film multiple times, as they did with “Endgame,” and expect the film to see solid ticket sales over the next several weeks.

“No Way Home in particular has an added incentive not to miss any major spoilers that made it imperative to see this on the big screen,” said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com.

While box office analysts were certain that “No Way Home” could easily top $ 100 million when it opened, which no other film did during the pandemic, it was unclear whether ticket sales were driven by a recent surge in coronavirus cases the United States would be dampened United States The Covid-Omicron variant has led to an increase in cases, even among fully vaccinated.

“What we’re seeing of ‘Spider-Man’ is really remarkable given the growing concern about the Omicron variant,” said Robbins. “… We have to be careful with short-term expectations as the pandemic continues to make everything volatile and hit the headlines every day. But at least for the moment, this achievement confirms the importance of theater exclusivity for the industry as well as the importance of ‘cinema’ in ours global culture. “

According to Steve Buck, chief strategy officer at research company EntTelligence, 20 million people are expected to see “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. That is more spectators than any home game during a season of the National Football League, he said.

Buck found that nine out of ten moviegoers saw the new “Spider-Man” movie this weekend.

“We’re living through box office history and a moment that will be relied on for years to come,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore. “No Way Home took command of cinemas around the world, captivating audiences hungry for the sheer cinematic escapism fun that only the communal cinema environment can provide.”

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” breaks pandemic cinema records.

Between Thursday preview and Friday Showtimes, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe flick has $ 121.5 million in domestic ticket sales.

“As the industry prepped for the first $ 100 million opening weekend of the pandemic era, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ hit theaters and erased expectations by hitting that mark by the end of Friday.” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore.

Sony, on the side a co-producer of the film Disney, raised its estimate for the entire weekend, saying the film will now exceed $ 240 million during its debut. His initial guess suggested the film would raise around $ 130 million. Box-office analysts told CNBC that they expect the film to hit around $ 250 million or even $ 265 million.

“The projections have only increased as this film captures the zeitgeist and brings many moviegoers back for the first time during the pandemic,” said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com.

“No Way Home” is already the top-grossing opener of the pandemic era, surpassing “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” which grossed $ 90.1 million in theaters in the first three days. It is also likely to land in the top 10 highest opening films in film history as one of only eight films to top $ 200 million on the first weekend, according to Comscore.

“With the incredibly strong word of mouth and the Christmas season in full swing, there is a very real chance this will end up as the second largest opening in history,” said Robbins. “Or at least in the top 4, even with very conservative forecasts, with staying power until well into the new year.”

While “Spider-Man: No Way Home” may not hit the $ 357.1 million opening that “Endgame” generated domestically two years ago, it could top the second highest opener – “Avengers: Infinity War” from 2018 , which was $ 257.6 million or the third highest-ranking “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” from 2015 which grossed $ 247.9 million in the first three days.

“This is an event-level performance that will be remembered for a long time because of its incredible importance to both moviegoers and the industry itself,” said Robbins. “It is not only proof of the universal appeal of Marvel and Spider-Man, but also of Sony’s strategy of theatrical exclusivity and the incredible power of the cinema experience together.”
