The American Film Institute announced its top 10 films of the year on Monday, including Pixar’s jazz theme “Soul” and two of Chadwick Boseman’s most recent films: the August Wilson adaptation “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and Spike Lee’s Vietnamese drama “Da 5 Bloods “. Both are Netflix movies.

Netflix was heavily featured on AFI’s list, which occupied four positions on the list, including David Fincher’s “Citizen Kane” origin story, “Mank” and Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7”. Amazon also got two places with the hearing loss drama “Sound of Metal”, with Riz Ahmed and Regina King’s “One Night in Miami …”.

Chloé Zhao’s awards and festival favorite “Nomadland” with Frances McDormand were also recognized as winners in the run-up to the cinema release in the coming weeks, as was “Minai” with Steven Yeun, which will open on February 12th. AFI also selected Warner Bros. ‘Black Panther Party film “Judas and the Black Messiah,” which premieres February 1 at the Sundance Film Festival.

AFI also named its top 10 television shows, including Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit”, the Disney + phenomenon “The Mandalorian” and Apple TV + “Ted Lasso”.

The selection jury consisted of the filmmakers Rian Johnson and Lulu Wang. The group also included a special quote for “Hamilton”.
