LONDON (AP) – Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday that an investigation had opened after a newspaper reported that a former aide was making an allegation of bullying against the Duchess of Sussex.

The Times of London reported allegations that the Duchess evicted two personal assistants and “humiliated” the staff. It said an official complaint had been made by Jason Knauf, then Meghan’s communications secretary, and her husband, Prince Harry. He now works for Harry’s older brother, Prince William.

The palace said it was “clearly very concerned” about the allegations.

A statement said the palace’s staff team would “investigate the circumstances described in the article” and attempt to speak to current and former employees.

“The royal household has introduced a dignity at work policy for a number of years and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace,” it said.

American actress Meghan Markle, a former star of the TV legal drama “Suits”, married Harry, a grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, in Windsor Castle in May 2018. Their son Archie was born the following year.
