It is again to fundamentals with this character’s fashion

Presenter, presenter and video producer Dana Low’s interest in fashion is constantly evolving – she could wear something slim and feminine one day and leave the house in athleisure the next.

The first runner-up for Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 says she doesn’t have a signature look and defines her personal style as “evolving”.

Instead, she believes in having multiple staples to pair with statement pieces.

What are your three must-have style / beauty items?

A matching blazer set. They are simple, stylish and you really don’t have to think a lot. Somehow you always look like thrown together with a matching blazer set.

Hoop earrings. Even I sometimes forget how much accessories can enhance your look! Whether it’s a statement ring or even great sunglasses, they all help make your looks more coherent. I always prefer hoop earrings as they always go with any look.

Lippies. Lipsticks, lip balms, lip glosses, lip tints, I could be naked, but I’ll always have a Lippie on hand so I look “alive”! But lip colors can really make or break a look. Imagine yourself wearing an all black outfit, but also imagine the difference it would make if you had to choose between a red, burgundy, or nude lipstick. My current goal is the Fenty Beauty gloss bomb in Cheeky.

Which three key pieces should everyone have in their wardrobe?

The basics. People will keep telling you this over and over for good reason! The standard tops in white, black and beige with jeans will stretch your wardrobe incredibly far!

A good pair of neutral shoes. Whether heels, sneakers, ballerinas or mules, always a pair in a neutral tone that goes with everything.

A statement bag. Don’t underestimate the power of a statement bag! I once wore a simple top and jeans with a colorful bag and got so many compliments for the whole outfit that I was a bit speechless, because basically I only wore basics, but the bag made all the difference. I choose bold colored bags to upgrade my wardrobe.

Who is your style icon? or what is your inspiration?

I get a lot of inspiration from catwalks and Instagram, especially my icons would be Olivia Culpo, Negin Mirsalehi and Desi Perkins. Her looks are always simple and clean and at the same time appear sublime and well thought-out.

Which trend would you most like to see go away?

Micro pockets! I’m all for a little bag, but I’ll draw the line, if you can only fit five coins in it, why?

Give us a style tip or two.

Try color blocking for a change; Free colors, monochromatic palettes, and combining different tones is honestly a very fun process. I would encourage people to try it out. Find out more about your body shape too! It’s a process, but understanding your proportions will help you style yourself.
