This weekend, live music returned to Corsicana and the dance floor was open. The Corsicana Opry and Event Center was proud to host local favorite Diamondback TX from Teague on Saturday evening March 13th.
After working out some minor reopenings after over a year, everyone was having a good time. If you missed your chance, Bobby Dean & The Timeless Country Band will be on stage next weekend, March 20th. The show starts at 8 p.m.
Carolyn McCombs gave the Daily Sun a tour and shared her plans for the building live and in person.
The building was built in 1905 and has an area of 23,000 square feet inside, excluding the basement that is said to be haunted.
There are nearly 900 square feet of the dance floor, an amazing handcrafted oil derrick, and several bars inside. A mirror-covered saddle hangs high above the dance floor and is covered with more than 7,000 tiny mirrors.
Leslie Chamberland was glued to the tiny mirrors for hours while the saddle was hung on the derrick. A second has just been completed and hangs in the bar area.
Carolyn and her mother, Billie Jo Stephan, bought the building in 2013 and had their first show in 2014. From there, it has grown into an incredible venue for musicians to perform. The local fire brigade is holding their weekly corn-hole league and the steakhouse is about to open.
In addition, loft apartments are being built, a tea room that is perfect for bridal showers, baby showers or surprise parties, and an ice cream parlor in the planning phase. It is really a multipurpose room.
